Jinki looked at Mao silently for a few minutes, wondering why on earth the vampire was trying to help him at all. Probably for a free meal, but Jinki didn't care. It was the entire idea that someone he hardly knew wanted to help him. And he needed it. Someone to talk to, to just tell everything to. "...the beginning is fine...where...where do you want me to start?" he asked quietly, letting his wings droop completely, the leading edge of one falling off the couch and resting against the floor while he leaned against the other, still curled in on himself.

"You can start wherever you like sweetheart," Mao said smiling softly. He didn't care where the other started, or if he got anything in retern. Pheonix were one of the better tasting races among the supernatural world, but that wasn't his intent. He watched the little one curl into himself and couldn't help but feel bad. The other was clearly suffering. Mao reached up and ran a hand through Jinki's hair, silently erging him to continue.

"I...I'll start from what I can remember...I think..." he whispered, not even caring that Mao had touched him, ran a hand through his hair. He didn't care anymore. He'd tried to hold himself up over the years, but one eventually breaks down, don't they? Jinki closed his yes and started to speak. "All of this...started when I got my wings...I was fourteen...no parents, no siblings. From what I've been told...I lived with a human family up until then...I don't remember anything from before that..."

Running his hand through Jinki's hair continuously, the vampire just listened. Clearly the pheonix has been holding this all in for quite some time, and it was about time he let it out. Mao was always the type to be more straight forward, or just say what he was thinking. In his opinion, he was too old to keep things bottled up inside. He saw it as what tore immortals apart and caused them to ultimately die in one form or another. So he just sat there, listening to all that the other had, humming on occassion to let Jinki know that he was listening.

Before long, Jinki closed his eyes, reliving the things he spoke of. Mao's touch was a comfort, now, and he was glad to have the vampire there for him. "The Gods...found me, took me in...gave me to an elder of my kind...she taught me everything, became my mother..." Jinki paused, starting to loose what little composure he had left. "...she died a little while after I was fledged...so became a messenger..." Jinki hated his past. Hated how he had been treated. A tear slipped from his eye, but he ignored it. "...they treated me terribly...I wasn't allowed to stop during trips...not for anything..."

Mao never stopped the movement of his hand through Jinki's hair. Thoughts of disembowling the servents of the Gods running through his mind. Everything he hated about them was mentioned as the younger spoke. But unfortuanely in this age he was not allowed to simply go on a killing rampage in their relm as he wished. It was too dangerous, even for him. It would be easier if they were caught in his relm or the In-Between.

When he saw the tear slip from Jinki's eye, he wrapped his other arm around the small pheonix, caressing him gently and kept petting his hair lightly. "It is alright Dear. If you would like, I can help you," he offered, speaking lightly. Mao had to admit, he had a soft spot for damaged things. He had a tendancy to pick up strays and other sorts of people throughout the ages, and help them the best he could. He could take the pheonix in if the other wanted his help. If Jinki wanted to leave this place, he could protect the other, from both the Gods, and the Monsters who were not always with him.

Jinki's words caught in his throat the moment Mao put his arm around him. He couldn't speak, couldn't do anything except cling hopelessly to the vampire, his tears finally spilling over. He was supposed to be reliable, strong, someone to be counted on. And here he was, breakinng down completely, hating who he was, hating his life. He wanted it all to end. More than anythinng, though, he wanted a place he could call home, like when Winterhart had fostered him as a fledgling. "...please..." he whispered hoarsely, begging Mao with that one word to take him away from everything. He didn't care where, as long as it was better than what he had now.

"If that is what you truely want Dear, I will," Mao cooed the other as he pulled away slightly. He smiled as warmly as his cold features would let him and wiped the tears spilling from Jinki's eyes. Taking the pheonix in was going to be a chore, but nothing he couldn't handle. "Why don't you come home with me little pet, you will be safe there," he said, gently running his hand down Jinki's cheek. He stood up and held out his slender hand for the other to take. "You do not have to answer me now, but let us at least leave this depressing place, yes? I will take you to my restaurant. We can get proper food in you, and you can take times to think your decision over properly," he smiled gently, trying not to seem forceful.

Jinki watched Mao with searching eyes. He could go with Mao? Right now he would take anything at all over this. He stood slowly, taking Mao's hand and folding his wings enough so that only the very tips trailed against the floor. He nodded silently in agreement to leaving, smiling hesitantly. He was starting to like the vampire. He was kind to Jinki, when no one else had been. A light in the darkness, so to speak. He wouldn't decide right away, but he would definitely consider it. Kindness was one thing he hadn't been given in a while, and he was going to enjoy it while it lasted.

Mao nodded slightly as Jinki stood, taking his hand. He held the other lightly, and began leading him out of the room. "I know it is difficult, but please retract your wings," he said as he gently pulled the pheonix behind him. He took Jinki back down the path they took to get to the room, then out of the door. Hailing a taxi to take them to the other side of the city, Mao rubbed the pheonix's back lightly to help him remain as relaxed as he could.

Once arrived at Adytum, Mao lead Jinki into the front door and took him towards the back away from the majority of the patrons. Being in the 'front' room, he didn't have to worry about the pheonix being attacked, but he still kept his eye out for any Monsters who may want to see the other hurt. "Please have a seat," he said motioning at a chair. "You may order whatever you like, it will be my treat. I will inform the waiter, so please go right ahead," he smiled bowing slightly before turning to leave.

Jinki followed Mao silently, and, although it took him a few minutes to do so, managed to hide his wings behind the tattoos on his back. He found himself welcoming every touch from Mao, much like he had from Winterhart. Mao was gentle, it seemed, and it made Jinki wish he had found the vampire sooner - much sooner.

Jinki was slightly uncomfortable, having never been to Adytum before, but he did as he was asked and sat down. He nodded in response to Mao's words, but when the vampire turned to leave, he frowned and spoke quietly. "...please don't leave..."

With a raised eyebrow Mao stopped mid-step and turned around. He had figured that maybe the other would like a moment alone to think his situation over. He gave Jinki a soft smile before moving to take the seat that was opposite him. Keeping the other company may not be a bad idea anyway. The pheonix seemed sweet despite his sadness. The vampire called over one of his waiters to order. He got something small, mostly just for show. He would get some blood in the 'back' room of his restaurant later.

"Don't worry about being shy or uncomfortable, you are safe up here," he smiled hoping Jinki would be more at ease. There were mostly humans, or neutral beings in the front of the restaurant. It was the back of Adytum that was dangerous, were all the Monsters gathered in one place outside of a night club.

"...thank you..." Jinki muttered, appreciating beyond those simple words that Mao had stayed. Jinki hated being by himself in a place he didn't know, surrounded by people he wasn't sure if he could trust. When Mao called a waiter over, Jinki realized that he hadn't eaten in what, two days now? But he didn't want to make a fool of himself, so he got a small meal of chicken to hold him over.

Jinki smiled hesitantly and nodded, looking around for a moment to try and confirm Mao's words. And he figured he was right. Nothing but humans and un-sided creatures in the room. He sighed quietly, folding his hands in his lap.

When the food came, Mao thanked the waiter and at his food slowly so he wouldn't become sick. Over time he bacame able to eat human food again, but he never got his body used to it, so he could only small portions with blood to keep his stomache from turning on him. He looked to Jinki's plate and smiled softly. "Are you sure that will be enough for you? You look like you haven't eaten in quite some time," he said bringing a glass of water to his lips. "You can have as much as you like, it is no problem at all," he set his glass back on the table and gave the pheonix a warm smile. Clearly the other was a bit out of place and not wanting to show it, so Mao wanted to make things less uncomfortable.

Jinki thanked the waiter as well with a quiet nod, smiling slightly. For a moment, he wondered why Mao ate so slowly, but he soon brushed it off. Perhaps the vampire couldn't eat human food without getting ill, or something to that effect. He nodded again in response to Mao's question. "It's fine...I don't eat very much as it is, so..." he murmured, silently eating his food. He smiled back, appreciating Mao's attempt to make him more comfortable, as much as it wasn't helping. He was terribly shy around those he didn't know, and quite the klutz when he was feeling that shy.

"If you are sure," Mao said drinking some more water. He really hated the substance, but drinking on an empty stomache never sat well with him. "If you get hungry again though, feel free to come here again. You are more than welcome," he set his glass down again and decided to just ignore the food he barely touched in front of him. He leaned on the table and rested his chin in the palm of his hand, smiling as he watched the pheonix eat. He knew he probably wasn't helping with making him uncomfortable doing so, but he didn't really care. "Do you have any idea what you are going to do now?" he asked breaking the moments silence. He was actually quite curious if the other had thought that far ahead, and realized what he had gotten himself into.

Jinki kept his eyes on his food, picking at it quietly. "...I'll remember that..." he whispered, glancing up at Mao only long enough to see him prop his chin on his hand before looking back down to continue eating his chicken. He honestly was starting to feel ravenous, but he would wait until he returned to Seventh Sanctum later to eat as much as he wanted to. After a few moments, Jinki glanced up at the sound of Mao's voice. "...going to do now...?" Jinki tilted his head to the side, slightly confused. "I'm...I...I don't know..." he muttered, completely unsrue what he was going to do.

"Well, thats alright," Mao smiled. "If you need help figuring it out or a place to stay, you are more than wecome," Mao said sitting straighter and pulling a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. "Do you mind?" he asked holding them up. He really wanted to smoke, but if it bothered the other he wouldn't.

"I...think I'll mull it over tonight..." Jinki said quietly with a soft smile. He took another bite of chicken, chewing thoughtfully. He was finding he rather liked Mao. he shook his head at Mao's question, silently saying it was fine. His mouth was rather full of delectable food, so he couldn't speak. He honestly hoped he got the message across. Such things had never bothered him before, and he really didn't mind at all.

Mao nodded with a smile understanding the pheonix. He pulled a cigarette out of its pack, and placed it between his plush lips and lighting it. Breathing the cancerous toxins in, he let the smoke flow out of his mouth in a sigh, making sure to blow it to the side so it didn't go into Jinki's face.

"That is probably a good idea Dear," he said smiling before taking another drag. "Will you be going back to Seventh Sanctum then?" he asked breaking his eyes away from the pheonix for the fist time for quite a while and flicking the ashes of his cigarette in the tray next to him.

Jinki finished the rest of his food before answering, so as to not be rude. "Ah...mianhe...I should go...but I'll come back, I assure you that much...." he said softly, looking thankfully at Mao. "I...um...kamsamhamnida, Mao-san...thank you...for everything." He hoped Mao would understand. He was never one to decide on things right away. He found it very difficult to trust, let alone make spot decisions. It would take him all night, but he knew that by the time morning rolled around, he would know what he wanted to do.

Mao gave the other a small nod of understanding. "Of course Dear, it is no problem at all," he said taking one final drag then putting his cigarette out in the small glass ashtray. "I certainly look forward to you coming again. You will come see me when you figure things out, won't you?" he asked placing his chin upon his hand once more. He was finding that he really would like to see more of the little pheonix. The boy was rather cute with his actions, a little different from what he had been surrounded by recently, and it was refreshing. He was even tempted to capture the bird as a pet, but if he wanted to do that he would have to be careful. The last thing he wanted to do was scare the other away.

Jinki smiled genuinely at Mao. "Of course...I'll be here first thing in the morning, if that's alright..." he said, extremely grateful to Mao for understanding. He was used to being pushed around, and this was rather...nice, compared to how things normally were for him. He wanted to come back here, despite the strange presences he could feel from the other room. But he wouldn't decide now. He would think properly on it, and then return with his answer. Jinki stood quietly, bowing in polite thanks to Mao.

Leaning onto the table, Mao took a deep breath sighing. "Mmmhh, Morning. I will do my best to be awake for you," he said smiling widely without showing his fangs. He wasn't a morning person, but he would make his best attempt to join the other if that is what he wished. Hell, if anything he could just go back to sleep, and most likely would. He watched Jinki stand and slowly did the same. "I look forward to your visit. Would you like me to get someone to escort you?" he asked leading the pheonix toward the door.

"...I can come later, if you want..." Jinki said, his voice quiet. He had forgotten, most vampires were not morning people. They slept well into the day, until times when he would just be finishing work for the day. He walked with Mao, contemplating a response for a moment before speaking. "Ah...if you don't mind, Mao-san...I don't know my way around here..." And it was true. This was the first time he had ever been to the darker side of the city. He'd never ventured past the edges of the In-Between, not even once. He was too shy, too scared for that.
