Early evening [Yukie]

Another day, another afternoon and evening well spent sun bathing and keeping warm. The sun was starting to creep over the homes to settle however and Ruby was now heading down the sidewalk in an attempt to decide if it was time to head home and sleep the rest of the evening away, or if she should find something to entertain her at least a while longer.

She slipped into a few shops, buying things for her own entertainment and carrying around a few shopping bags before moving to stand outside a shop and light up a cigarette. She leaned back against the wall and exhaled slowly, watching a few people go by. Some humans, some none and smiled a bit, thinking about how badly some people might react if they realized that half of these people weren't human and would probably freak out something pretty fierce.

She stubbed out the cigarette once it was done, flicking it into a nearby trashcan before heading down the sidewalk again, slit pupils hiding behind a pair of sunglasses though expanding enough to take in more light since it was getting dark. Soon she would be able to remove them but it was better safe than sorry during the day time when it was easier for people to see. She continued down the road, hoping something would catch her attention before she got near her home.

Nightfall makes it easy for Yukie to take human form to wander into the city, since it's always amusing to wonder into the land of humans. They're always amusing, even when the gods aren't coming into their lives to screw with it.

However, the human world is always changing and she's never certain what to dress in. Yukie always stops by a dress shop just to allow herself to shift into proper outfits when she's human. As always, she has to make sure that her antlers were not visible, Artemis really had a habit of being possessive. Wondering through the streets, taking care to avoid bumping into people passing by. Occasionally, someone would try to stop her only to receive a look of disapproval.

When that didn't work, she'll usually run before the hand that reached out to grab her, easily leaving them in the dust.

Ruby wasn't paying much attention as home neared, but when there was a passing scent of something unfamiliar, she reached out and grabbed at it, taking Yukie's arm in her hand gently as she offered a smile, trying to identify what the other woman was.

"Never seen you around here, doesn't seem like a place for a heavenly creature to be wandering around, dear." She said, pulling her glasses off to get a better look at Yukie now, slit eyes plain as day as they narrowed up to limit the light intake. "You lost?"

Bitting back a gasp, she turned around to see.....something in humanform. Trying her damn hardest to keep her antlers from materializing and willing the other down.

But when it appears there was no signs of ill-will, Yukie relaxed, looking at the slit eyes. Straightening her back, she looked at the other woman.

"I'm...investigating how people live in the city now."

She's been avoiding civilization for an extended amount of time. "I have not been to one in....a while."

"You picked a shitty place to come about to investigate." Ruby laughed, loosening her hold on the other as she glanced around them before back to Yukie. "Would you like a guardian? I'm rather familiar with it and can make sure you don't end up some demons second dinner tonight." She mused. Really, it would be a shame if anything were to happen to the other in her opinion.

"I just need to stop by my place to drop some things off, after that I can show you around. Interested?"

"...It does not look like it's covered in excrements." Relaxing at the other's laughter, "But a guardian would be very helpful. I'm not particularly if there there are demons." Yukie's patron will not be shooting any more of them unless there's a sudden sacrifice to her. Which hasn't happened for centuries.

"As long as your place is not a trap to ensnarl me, I am interested."

She's not interested in being caught for some guy's chore list.

"Youre as bad as I was when I first came to the human realm." She laughed again, hooking her arm in the others and moving to lead her to an apartment building and up into one of the homes, unlocking the door and moving to set her things away before changing her shoes into something more comfortable.

Ruby shook her head, amused by the other as she pulled on a jacket now. "No, I don't have much need to use traps. If I want a victim I'll simply bite them. They won't be going far after that." she said lightly, moving now back to the door. "So, seeing as you are very lacking in knowledge, where would you like to start?"

Looking at their linked arms, Yukie shrugged it off as nothing. "...This is not my first time in the human realm...I just haven't been in their civilization since...." She tried to count back to a relatable time...was it Cleopatra?

Oh shoot! She spent all the time in her head, she wasn't paying attention and now they're at a door. There was a lot of doors, a lot of floors...and she was so lost.

Looking around the small space, it was awfully small. "Do...people all live in such small places now?" They were like in little drawers! "...I do not know as to where to start? Where do the heroes resides? Which gods do people worship now?"

Might as well start to know where she can get assistance...if they're willing to provide it.

"Maybe not, but you're clearly well outdated on everything involving these people. You're gonna have to spend some time catching up." Ruby shook her head, moving and tucking her sun glasses on top of her head before pulling the other out the door again and off onto their adventure they were headed.

"Yes, these are called apartments, a lot of people live in them because houses cost a lot. Next is a condo, bigger, costs more money. Then houses, and what not and those vary greatly in size." Ruby had to actually stop to think about that one, leading Yukie down the street and somewhere to get something to drink.

"Well, I suppose most gods have at least a few worshipers. Religion is still a pretty big thing depending on where you are, but it's not as popular as it was in the old days. Humans are oblivious to the world they live in, I mean look at me, a naga wandering around among them and surely you'd think they'd at least have an idea of it but no, they're too consumed in their own greed and destruction to care about others. Not that all of them are like that but there's certainly an influx in hell due to everyone selling their souls."

"How very...confusing. Humans are such strange creatures, they do this to themselves without the gods even mingling with their lives." Or perhaps the current gods are lot more...subdued.

Yukie followed behind the naga through the streets.

"Oh, I see Hades is doing well. Gosh, people really do not learn from their ancestors' mistake do they?" She let out a sigh, "...Do they really not notice the few fae that wonder among them? That would make it easier to join them in their compact little world."

She took in a gasp. "Where are the horses that pull them so dangerously fast?" She pointed at a crate-like object with people inside, that seems to go nearly as fast as she could run.

"Everything about humans is confusing. You'll get used to it." She shrugged, looking back at the other and trying to subdue her amusement, shaking her head again. "Theyre blind to us as much as they are to the ants they step on as they walk by."

Ruby looked over at the cars, covering her mouth with a hand to hide the laugh. "Horses aren't used anymore. These are cars, or vehicles. They move on their own so to say. A human has to drive one though, seeing are they aren't alive. It's best not to get hit by one of those, it hurts really fucking bad."

"...witchcraft." Yukie muttered under her breathe. "I'll make sure to avoid those as much as I can." Just in case if she had to try and outrun those things.

"This is why the gods interfered before, humans are completely reckless. They'll break themselves with toys like that." Yukie pointed out, Zeus alone probably kept the human race backwards for nearly a century or two. "Well, makes it easier for the rest of us, let them cause trouble and hopefully they'll leave us alone."

"It's not witchcraft, best to not say that to anyone either. They'll think youre stark raving mad or be really offended, or both." Ruby sighed a bit. "But yes, avoid them if you can. I've been around for a few hundred years, it's never pleasant to get bumped by one."

She led them into a coffee shop, ordering two drinks between them and paying for it before handing one over to Yukie. "Try this. It's what the humans use to keep awake. I enjoy the taste. I'm Ruby by the way." She offered, moving to sit down at one of the booths with Yukie then. "There's too many humans for the gods to control now I think. Not enough people to worship and offer power, despite there being many."

Yukie looked at the drink, it was warm in her hands. "It smells...burnt." She wrinkled her nose at it. "I'm....Yukie." It's more than a hundred years since she give her name to someone, the last time she did, they started to herd deer around a temple.

"...That's a pity, it was always amusing watching the gods mess with people." Yukie mused, tapping at the warm paper cup, blowing on it before taking a sip, cringed, and pushed it away.

"Of course that'll keep people awake, it's bitter enough to wake the dead!"

"It is sort of burnt. It's like..an new version of tea." She laughed, leaning back in her seat with an wry smile. "That's a pretty name. You do seem like a Yukie."

"Why leave it to the gods, when we're the ones able to play with the humans now? We can mess with their heads and make them think theyre going insane, or that everything is a dream and then they get woken abruptly by reality. I enjoy doing those things."

Ruby sipped at her coffee, glancing out the window as the sun continued to fall. "You'll get used to it if youre around enough. They have sweeter things that may appeal to your tastes. What do you enjoy eating?"

"Burnt tea....I'm do not regret avoiding humans." They must have dead taste buds or something.

Yukie on the other hand was playing with the little containers at their table. She found salt, pepper, and....sugar. She literally turned to the 'coffee' and added at least 4 packages before taking a sip again. That took off the edge at least.

"...grass. Fruits...."

She looked at the other.

"Youre complaining about coffee..and you eat grass." Ruby pointed out in a teasing tone, getting up and ordering the other a fruit salad before bringing it back to the other woman in offering, resuming her attention to her coffee now.

"If you're around enough, you'll adjust to how they eat. It just takes time when youre stepping out of your own world."

Yukie's cheeks florid as she pouted at the table. "Grass doesn't taste like it's supposed to bring back the dead."

Her eyes caught onto the fruit salad, that's something she's used to. Even if it seems the fruits has changed a bit, still sweet regardless.

"I guess....humans do have...rough tastes to say the least." They ate plain flat breads with nothing for centuries even.

"It doesn't taste all that great no matter how you look at it though." But grass wasn't meat, and Ruby was definitely a carnivore without a doubt. She leaned back in the chair, watching the other find interest in the fruit salad before looking around them, wanting to make sure they didn't draw in too much attention. It was unlikely this late at night, but one couldn't be too careful.

Arm slung over the back of the chair, she tilted her head back toward Yukie. "Everyone has different tastes. We can all eat the food of the gods~"
