Decisions For the Best [Mao]

"It doesn't bother me at all. I'm not a human after all," the vampire smirked as he followed Jinki as fast as the bird was flying. He watched intently as Jinki broke the walls seal, scoffing slightly. So that's where he always hides... Him and the men he worked with were always wondering how the Kirin hid from them so well. Now it made sense. His eyes flickered back and forth between red and gold as he tensed, waiting for Jinki to do what he needed, and help if necessary.

Jinki was lucky, the owner had downsized the main part of his suit since he was last here. He wouldn't even need to back him into his office, this room was plenty small enough. The Phoenix screeched as he flew into the room, knowing it would be unexpected and send his former boss at the very least into a defensive stance, if not get him to change. Jinki made a mess of the place before the man could react, hoping that he would anger him by destroying his love for order in where he made his home.

Mao followed Jinki in, standing in the doorway to block anyone from interfering. He watched in amusement how the Kirin suddenly took to the defensive, a quick look of fear in his eyes as the bird destroyed his precious belongings. Though his eyes were on what happened in front of him, his senses were tuned in to everything happening outside. If someone so much as entered that hallway, he would know, and they wouldn't know what hit them.

He made note to remember right where Mao was standing, at least before his ex-boss suddenly changed forms without taking notice of where he was. Jinki was at him instantly, screeching and clawing at the Kirin's face as he attempted to peck the creature's eyes out, ignore the flames that suddenly sprang to life on his feathers.

Mao watched the Kirin intently when he shifted. It made him a little nervous because he had never been around one when it changed forms before. When Jinki's feather's began to burn, he was ready to step in, but sudden shouts coming from the hall pulled away his attention. Several men came running down towards him, shouting silly things like 'stop' and don't move'. He tisked at how pathetic it was that the humans were sent to their bosses defense first. He extended his sharp glass like nails as if they were claws, his eyes glowing bright red. When the one of the humans pulled out a gun he snarled slightly, baring his teeth and attacked quickly when the man pulled the trigger. The vampire ripped out the humans throat, then went after the others, knocking them all out and breaking multiple bones.

He continued to ignore the fire, since it didn't bother him at all; he was, of course, a bird reborn in fire, so it couldn't harm him. With his task of ruining the Kirin's eyesight finished, he let himself glance into the hall way long enough to see Mao dispatching a small group of humans. Jinki let out a high-pitched whistle, knowing it would distract those who weren't yet dead or dying, then set himself to opening as many gashes as he could in the other creature's flesh.

Mao's eyes darted to Jinki as he whistled when his hand whent to rip at one fo the last humans standing. He quickly changed his hand to a fist, knocking out the human instead of tearing out his heart. He did the same with the other men there and turned to face the end of the hall. Something else was coming. He watched Jinki slicing up the Kirin for just a moment before sealing the area where they fought. He didn't want anyone getting in the way of the phoenix. When he looked back to the end of the hall and an angel stood there, glaring at him. The vampire only smirked before rushing him.

He glanced away for a split-second to see the faint glimmer of a wall of magic between the suite and the hall, then went back to what he was doing. Jinki's current goal was to wear the Kirin down. And, since it barely fit in the suite because of the downsize, there wasn't much it could do to fight back. The Phoenix had been battered around a tad bit, knocked aside by being hit with the other's tail and horn, but otherwise he was fine. And speaking of the Kirin's tail, he latched himself onto it before starting to slowly shred it to pieces.

Fighting the Angel proved to be a bit more difficult than Mao had expected. He would have to send the Gods a gift of congratulations for finding giving a challenge. He looked at the angel's pure white wings and thought that they would be a good for that. Stepping up his game, he ripped off the wings, but not without being thrown through a wall and stabbed through by the sword that the angel carried. Without his wings, the angel's powers weren't as strong, so even in his weakened state he could finish it. But with his injuries, Mao couldn't keep the seal in place over the Kirin's room.

He trilled in displeasure when the wall of magic disappeared, a screech sounding from him when he noticed what had happened. But he couldn't just go help, their target could escape. Jinki bit open the major artery that ran through the Kirin's tail, guaranteeing that it would bleed out within the next few minutes. He knew Mao could manage for that long, at least until the Kirin was down and half-dead. He tore open whatever areas of flesh he hadn't up to this point, finally pulling himself away when the demon fell to the ground with a quiet grunt.

Mao panted lightly as he held the major wound in his stomach. Using the energy he had left he began healing it as much as he could without feeding again. The vampire wasn't happy that his clothing had been completely ruined, though he did figure that it wasn't something so easily avoided. And when he looked into the hall, he slightly chuckled thinking to himself. So much for clean this time... He knew his dragon friend would say something about him making a mess again. He watched Jinki work, and when the Kirin fell he stared at it with distaste. "You should rip it's heart out, just in case."

-I will, but I want him to suffer before that point,- Jinki answered, moving himself to Mao's side and nudging the now-dead angel away from him. That was quite a feat, killing off one of the God's children with only one injury to show for it. -Sit down so I can work, Mao-san. Please-

Mao felt a little dizzy because of the blood loss. Fighting the angel took a little more out of him than he would like to admit. It was never fun being thrown through walls and knocked around like a rag doll. He was lucky that Jinki had brought him food before this, otherwise he would be in a lot worse condition. But even still, it wasn't enough. The hole in him had caused a lot of damage, and it was going to take a while to recover. He nooded and quickly sat like Jinki instructed him to, if only to save himself from the embarrassment of falling over.

Jinki hoped he wasn't about to cause more harm than help with what he was going to do, but despite that, he had to try. Besides, it wasn't just a myth that Phoenix tears could heal wounds. He put this to use without another word to Mao, leaning his head over the vampire's wound after nudging his hand out of the way, letting a few slightly cloudy tears fall onto it.

Mao was a little confused when Jinki nudged his hand away. When he saw the tears, he flinched. He knew the rumors, but didn't know they were real. When they fell on him, he hissed in pain, baring his teeth a little. The pain felt like an acid was dripped onto him, which he didn't like the first and only time someone did it to him. He restrained the urge to strangle the phoenix though and clawed into the floor instead. Though the wound was smoking and burnt, the flesh began to heal faster with the help of the tears.

-I'm sorry...- The words were a near-whisper, but he meant them. Jinki had no idea that he would hurt Mao. He edged away, settling himself on the floor a couple feet away and hiding his head under a wing. He wasn't sure what else to do rather than stay away from the other male, figuring he would probably be upset with him.

Mao shook his head as he tried to subside his anger through the pain in his body. His whole form hurt, burning with the tears seeping through his blood stream. "It's fine..." he said through a clenched jaw.Just never do that again he thought as he tried to stand. "We need to leave. I imagine someone else may be sent soon if we don't hurry," Mao used the wall for support as he stood. He wasn't sure he would be able to teleport out, but he could at least try using as much speed as he could to at least get a few blocks away.

He blinked, looking back at Mao. He got up, looking as serious as a bird could, and briefly sat himself on Mao's shoulder. -Tired of acting normal. Just direct me, and I'll take us back to your apartment.- He knew he would get scolded later for being the way he was, but Jinki was done with just about everything at this point. Of course, he hadn't intended to prove true that he could carry a large amount of weight, too, but he didn't have a choice. And, since the windows in the suite were large and stupidly left open, that was their only route out. He dug his talons into Mao's clothes, promising to fix them as best he could later, then lifted both himself and the vampire into the air and disappeared out the window.

Mao didn't really understand what the phoenix meant until lifted him off the ground. He would be lying if he said it didn't cause a slight amount of panic in him. He struggled a little bit, but stopped when his jacket tore. "Just take me to Adytum, I need to feed to thin out your magic in my blood," he said pointing in the direction of the restaurant. "It's straight that way."

Jinki did as he was told without any response, gently setting the vampire on his feet at the back door. He moved away a bit, shifting back into his human form, then went and opened the door for Mao. He followed the vampire inside the building, keeping away from him but close enough in case he might need something.

Mao nearly tripped over his own feet as he started to walk. If it wasn't for his pride as a master vampire, he would have collapsed right there. Instead he quickly went inside, knowing Jinki would follow. He pulled himself together long enough to weave through the mass of demons that now plagued his restaurant and get to the private room from before. On the way, he stopped one of the waiters, asking him to bring the blood he desired, and some food for Jinki as well. Once they were inside the room and away from everyone, Mao slumped himself into one of the large chairs, closing his eyes and trying to control his breathing.

Jinki did indeed follow Mao, giving a slight glare to the waiter the vampire had stopped to ensure he would get right on the request. As soon as the door shut behind him though, he went and curled himself up in a corner of the room. He wouldn't say he didn't feel bad. in fact, he felt terrible about what his stupidity was putting Mao through. He knew he was going to have to deal with some form or another of punishment when he was feeling up to it, too, and Jinki wasn't exactly looking forward to it.

After sitting there for quite some time, Mao was pretty sure he was going to pass out. What annoyed him though, more than his body burning, was that he didn't hear a sound from Jinki since they entered the room. He could sense the little bits of fear coming from the corner, but was too tired to look in that direction. A knock came to the door, and a very irritated growl ebbed from his throat. The vampire sat himself up and wiped his face with both hands before opening the door with his telekinesis, and putting on a calm and gentle face when the waiter entered the room, setting the things that he asked for on the table and leaving quickly. "Jinki, you should eat," he spoke softly as he forced himself up to sit at the table and began drinking from the glass that was filled for him.

He flinched when Mao growled, but relaxed a little when he realized it was meant for the waiter and not himself. Jinki got up, hesitantly joining the vampire when it was mentioned that he should eat something. He wasn't exactly hungry, but he knew he would be far better off doing what he was told rather than objecting to it. So he ate silently, looking more at the food and his lap than he did at Mao.

Half way through his third glass, Mao's blood stream was starting to even out, and the pain became more of a low tingle. He probably shouldn't have drank that fast, but it would be better than attacking someone out of pain and anger. Sighing he looked up to Jinki and examined him. It seemed he was afraid of becoming Mao's target or something and he smiled gently, a habit he was used to faking. The vampire stood from his seat and walked over to the other, bending down slightly and placing a kiss on his temple. "You did well Jinki, and I'm sure you fell better now with your actions."
